Dyker Heights Brooklyn – Christmas Lights
Our good friend Dan took us on a car tour of the Christmas decorgasm in Dyker Heights Brooklyn. The few out of control (and wonderful) houses we ran across were on 84th street between 12th and 13th ave. These houses have huge, amusement park size decorations, millions of lights and swaying/singing reindeer. Not to mention the maniacal Santa.
Guess who lives at this house…
That’s right – welcome to Santa’s domain!
This tree is completely wrapped in lights, but only a few branches were illuminated. Wonder if there is one loose bulb someplace?
Custom lettering on Santa’s van, parked around the block from the decoration insanity.
Do you know of a great xmas lights location? Comment in the address here and we will add it to our ever growing map.
Here are some more pictures we found on Flickr. (for good measure)

[...] i made home made eggnog today. better with rum, than with brandy. i also watched an interesting special on channel Thirteen about the Dyker Lights. It’s some crazy place in brooklyn or something with all these dudes who have horrible ny accents rabidly decorating their houses. the scariest thing of all was a santa. was robotic and you could talk to it through a speaker. it would then answer you. the creepy thing was that it was answered by a guy who had set it up so that there was a video feed and a microphone in his house. he was dirty and balding, and very, very unkempt. the thing itslef wasn’t pleasent to look at: Comments » [...]

Those decorations are so impressive. I have never seen anything like them.
I used to live near this street in New Zealand where every house would have christmas lights, but your photos take Christmas decoration to a whole new level!

I like your lights a lot. My faviorte part is the Santa Clause. I think you people should keep on doing this every year.

Are these decorations still going through the weekend after New Year’s? Jan 1-3? We’re planning to be there and would love to show our kids the lights if they are still up. Please email me if you know. Thanks.
