While doing laundry at the Bleach House this morning I read a notice about a Carroll Gardens Neighborhood Association meeting concerning some changes in the neighborhood. The meeting takes place Monday, February 13 at 106 First Place, 7:30pm.
Topics to be covered in this meeting are Court Street real estate activity, Brooklyn Bridge Park Defense Fund, Neighborhood updates, Clinton Street lights, and reports from representatives of local elected officials and the 76th Police Precinct.
You can join the CGNA through yahoogroups:

Their meetings are open to everyone in the community.

So, did anyone attend this meeting? I found out too late. OK, maybe I wouldn’t have gone anyway. But, I feel like I can’t keep complaining online and do nothing about it. What’s the deal? Any ideas offered or things we can do to protect the integrity of the neighborhood.

I had every intention of going but that morning was stricken with the flu - spent the day (hell, most of the week) under blankets. I intend to go to the next one on March 13th.

Besides these meetings, has anyone heard of any other ways to participate? petitions? other organizations trying to fight the unwanted changes?
Does the Carroll Gardens Neighborhood Association have a website…besides the yahoo groups page?

Is there a way I can be informed of meetings — e-mail, regular mail? I would like to be involved in the oppostion to development — chain stores, residential buildings unsuitable to the neighborhood, etc.

When is the next meeting?
Is this site kept current?

Did anyone receive an answer to this? I would like to attend the next meeting as well. Please let me know if anyone found out when/where the meetings are held. Thanks!
