HELL HOUSE at St. Ann’s Warehouse

Here’s a little something local to get your Halloweiner on. As you may have heard by now, local high-concept theater troupe Les Freres Corbusier is putting on a full-scale Hell House at the neat-o St Ann’s Warehouse in Dumbo. That’s right, Hell House as in Christian Evangelicals and that documentary from a few years ago.

Done unironically and straightfaced directly from the recommended script by Hell House innovator Rev. Keenan Roberts (who also sells Hell House kits for $300), it’s a tad pricey ($25) and worth every penny. Yes, much of it is unbelievably campy and wonderfully gory, but the final third is something of a meta-theatrical triumph. You’ll not only realize how detailed, elaborate, and convincing the unforgettable production is, but how the whole idea is really just awesomely batshit weird Americana.

“Hell House” is running almost the entire month of October. Tours run every 15 minutes from 7:30p to 9:45p.
