Where oh where will I clean my clothes now?
A sign on the door says it will close as of February 16th. Any rumours of what is going to take over the space?

What will happen to all those clothes they hang in the window?

They had all the clothes bagged up – perhaps they are giving them to the Salvation Army or Goodwill.
Guess it’s time to start searching for a new laundrette.

As for a replacement, the place on Pres. & Henry is pretty good. I’ve never actually stayed to do my own laundry, but their drop-off service is good and the girls who work there are sweet.

I read in this blog last year that there was a rumor it was going to be a mcdonald’s .. i really hope this is just a rumor.. there would be nothing else i would rather NOT have.. how about a post office? that would be a dream from the heavens.

carrie, the laundrette on prez & henry is awful… the dryers are always broken (cold, taking quarters, etc), and the lines are horrendous. I’ve spent 3 hrs doing 2 loads. I’m lucky enough to have a car and I go to the atlantic wash center on atlantic ave.

The laundromat across from the former Key Food on Court Street is ALWAYS empty (not like the ones near the subway on Smith)The woman that runs it is a little bossy but if she gains your trust (ie:sees you don’t overload her machines& put too much soap in)she leaves you alone. One of the few remnents of the “old” neighborhood, go there before she closes too!

I hope the people that take over will keep the sign. I have not done my laundry here, but always admired these lovely graphics. McDonalds would be awful! The Dunkin Donuts is bad enough.
The woman in the laundry across from the former Key Food (now an unnecessary drugstore), told me she was worried about the new customers she was going to get. She said she would only take a few of you. Hint: Only drop clothes off on the weekdays not the weekend. She hates the weekend. I think she might be edging toward retirement.

I’m pretty sure that the last time I was in there I overheard the owner talking about selling the place to a group who intend to turn the laundromat into a restaurant. They’re excited to exploit the proximity to the F/G Carroll St. stop. It makes sense that the real estate there is more valuable as a restaurant than a laundromat, but the guy I heard was criticizing where they intend to put the kitchen.
